Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a problem-oriented approach that is designed to be practical, short-term, and goal-directed, and provide people with new skills to help them in their daily lives. CBT helps people to examine how they understand what is happening around them, and how these interpretations impact their emotional experience. CBT focuses on the premise that changing maladaptive thinking leads to change in emotions and behaviours. In CBT, people learn to identify, question, and change the thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions connected to their problematic emotional and behavioural reactions to certain situations.
